Veterans Day: One Warrior Shares Some of the Best Ways to Heal from Trauma
As we prepare to honor those who’ve selflessly served our country this Veterans Day, it’s important to recognize the toll such service can take on the individual. In this article, Jill Chambers, US Army COL (Ret), shares helpful tips from her journey of recovery and healing after living through one of our nation’s most horrific events… After personally experiencing the tragic events of 9/11 while serving in the Pentagon, I was eventually diagnosed with post-traumatic stress (PTS). I was sure I didn’t want to go down the path of medications if I could help myself through non-pharmaceutical approaches. Through research, personal connections, and the help of Belleruth Naparstek, founder of Health Journeys, I was introduced to therapies like neurofeedback, biofeedback, and guided imagery. All three of these modalities were life-changing for me and significantly helped mitigate my PTS. Soon after I was enjoying the positive results of my journey, I read Dr. Daniel Amen’s books, “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life” and “Unleash the Power of the Female Brain.” I was completely intrigued at this point of discovering exactly how my brain was functioning and how I could raise it to a level of optimal performance. Single Best Decision My husband and I scheduled appointments at the Amen Clinic in Orange County, CA to have brain SPECT imaging performed and to learn exactly what would be appropriate, healthy ways forward to maintain positive brain health. This was the single best decision we could’ve made to enhance our health and longevity! We both made a declaration to live to be at least 120 and have a sharp brain all the way there. Dr. Amen was able to tell from my scan that I did have the pattern that indicated I experienced a post-traumatic event. However, the signature pattern, which is a triangle shape, was encapsulated indicating I was actually experiencing post-traumatic growth (PTG). I quickly learned that PTG was allowing me to find a way to make new meaning from my traumatic experience and take the adversity and turn it into positive growth. At that point, I felt certain that by actively using neurofeedback, biofeedback, and guided imagery for months enhanced my chances of reaching PTG. Through the SPECT imaging, Dr. Amen was able to share with me additional steps I could take to keep my brain functioning at maximum capacity. The Great Revelation One other interesting discovery that the SPECT imaging showed was that I was very low in vitamin D. At first, I had a hard time believing that since blood work from my annual physicals showed that my vitamin D was at a healthy level. Well, the great revelation was that even though my vitamin D was within normal limits, it was always at the very bottom. Dr. Amen suggested I get a DEXA scan to check my bone density and sure enough, I was on the verge of osteoporosis. My doctor wanted to start me on Alendronate, but Dr. Amen suggested I increase my daily dose of vitamin D from 1000 mg to 5000 mg daily. 18 months later, I had another DEXA scan and my doctor couldn’t believe there was actual improvement in my bone density, something he’d never seen before. I call that great news! Targeted Supplements Because every person’s brain is different, Dr. Amen specifically targets supplements that will benefit the individual. For the last decade, I’ve been taking: Brain & Memory Power Boost NeuroVite Plus Iron Omega-3 Power Squeeze Brain MCT Energy Vitamin D3 5000 I’ve just felt great and have literally not been sick in the last ten years. It’s wonderful to know that these supplements are just right for me, and with the SPECT imaging there’s no more guessing or spending time in the vitamin aisle wondering if I should buy something because it looks like a good idea. Continuing Service The education and inspiration I received from the Amen Clinic helped me move forward with my company, This Able Vet, LLC, with the specific purpose of supporting our military Veterans and their family members with non-pharmaceutical approaches to empowering their personal health. I’ve been able to help, encourage, and financially support our Veterans to receive brain SPECT imaging and begin to get them on a path of recovery and a fulfilling life. BrainMD would like to thank Jill and all the brave men and women who’ve served or are still serving our nation. We’re only able to continue the work we do because of you. Thank you for your service! Learn moreStop an Argument Before It Starts with These 8 Helpful Tips!
Arguments can be emotionally and mentally draining. They can lead to increased stress, hurt feelings, and broken relationships. So, what can you do when a conversation starts to get heated? To help prevent misunderstandings from escalating into full-blown fights, try these practical tips to improve your daily communications with others. 8 Top Tips for How to Stop an Argument Before It Starts Keep Your Cool To prevent a pressure-packed situation from getting out of hand, always keep your cool. It’s vital to remain levelheaded when voices are raised and tempers flare. Try removing the emotional charge from your conversations by speaking in a calm and caring tone. Tone of voice can be crucial in disarming a potentially volatile situation. Also, closely monitor your comments and reactions to make sure they’re coming from a rational place, rather than an emotional one. Instead of saying something negative or critical try your best to say something positive and constructive. Many times, this approach will result in a better outcome for you and the other individual/s. In short, always model calm behavior and others will likely follow your example. Take a Time-out When someone raises their voice or begins to lose their temper, take a time-out. This type of collective breather involves everyone in the discussion retreating to a separate space for a designated period (typically 10-15 minutes). Spending some time apart from the other member/s involved in the dispute may help you, and them, settle down and forget about the argument. A cooldown period only works if you get buy-in from everyone involved, so make sure all parties agree with taking a time-out to avoid starting yet another argument. Try Whispering When others are yelling, start whispering. The dramatic change in the decibel level of your voice will most likely make everyone stop talking to hear what you have to say. Something in our psyche makes us lean in and listen more attentively when someone is whispering. This tactic has been used with great success from board rooms to political assemblies. If an argument is getting out of control, try whispering to see if you can get everyone’s attention. Then you can attempt to de-escalate the conflict. Build a Bridge Instead of trying to convince the other person that your viewpoint is correct, attempt to see things from their perspective. The main objective shouldn’t be to win the argument but to remove potential threats, address concerns, and find common ground with the other person. Building a bridge is one of the best ways to avert a quarrel before it even starts. Get Outside When drawn into a discussion that makes you feel uncomfortable, look for a way to redirect the conversation. If that doesn’t work, find a polite way to remove yourself from the situation or postpone the discussion. Another strategy is to get outside for some exercise, such as a walk or jog, which is an effective way of letting off some steam when things get too tense. Getting some fresh air and exercise may help clear your mind so you can approach the problem or argument from a broader perspective. You may find that the point of contention you had with the other individual/s wasn’t that significant after all. Focus on the Positive This is one of those “easier said than done” tips, but it’s essential for maintaining healthy relationships. It’s easy to notice what you don’t like in a relationship, but when you spend more time appreciating what’s working well, you’re more likely to see an increase in positive behavior. Change takes time, but this is one step that can pay off big dividends if you consistently work at it. Deal with Difficult Issues Whenever you concede a point just to avoid an argument, you give away a little bit of your power. Over time, this loss of control can make you resent the other person. Avoiding conflict in the short run often has devastating long-term effects. In a firm but kind way, express your opinion or concern. This will help keep the relationship open and balanced. Overcome Poor Communication Poor communication is at the core of many relationship problems. Jumping to conclusions, expecting others to read your mind, and needing to be right all the time are just a few negative traits that can cause a breakdown in communication. Working with a trained counselor or therapist may help you overcome these bad habits and improve your communications skills. Additional Tools to Help Stop Arguments…NOW! Knowing how to prevent arguments is crucial for maintaining healthy relationships with others. Rational tips, such as de-escalating a potential argument or suggesting compromises, can help stop an argument before it starts. Disengaging when necessary, breaking negative thought patterns, and listening with empathy are other, powerful tools that can help prevent arguments. Also, admitting when you’re wrong can go a long way in diffusing tensions and earning the respect of those you’ve had disagreements with in the past. Remember that conflict is a normal part of the human experience, and how we handle it can define our relationships. By implementing these strategies into your daily life, you’ll be equipped to navigate disagreements with greater ease. Learn moreBrain Imaging: 2 of the Best Ways to Look at Your Brain
"Your brain is the hardware of your soul. You cannot be who you really want to be unless your brain is working right.” – Daniel G. Amen, M.D. Your brain is involved in everything you do. How you think, how you act, and how well you relate to others is directly tied to the functioning of your brain. When the brain works right, people tend to be at their best. When the brain is troubled, people tend to struggle in different areas of their life. Talk It Out Many people with troubled brains end up working with a counselor. While talk therapy can temporarily relieve emotional or psychological distress, the root of the problem may still persist, especially if a patient struggles with extreme focus, memory, or mood issues. In many cases, progress is slow because patients don’t receive tangible, visible evidence of what’s affecting them. Sadly, psychiatry is the only medical branch that rarely looks at the organ it treats. Without functional brain imaging tools, clinicians can’t accurately determine the underlying brain patterns of their patients. In fact, how can they really know what’s going on inside a patient’s brain without taking a look? Imaging Changes Everything Imaging removes the guesswork from the standard psychiatric approach of prescribing high-powered medications to treat symptoms, which is like throwing darts at a dartboard in the dark. By contrast, the approach at Amen Clinics is to look inside the brain to identify the root of the problem and to treat it with as natural a regimen as possible. If you’ve hit a wall with traditional psychiatric care or are just curious to know what’s going on inside your brain, here are two effective technologies that can provide accurate images of your brain… Brain Imaging: 2 Ways Technology Is Changing Mental Health Brain SPECT Imaging SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) is a state-of-the-art brain mapping tool that can give trained medical professionals more information to help their patients. SPECT is a nuclear medicine study that’s proven to reliably evaluate blood flow and activity in the brain. How Brain SPECT Imaging Can Help SPECT allows physicians to look deep inside the brain to observe three things: Areas of the brain that work well Areas of the brain that work too hard Areas of the brain that don’t work hard enough With the help of brain imaging, doctors can see if there are physical or chemical imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, low neurotransmitter production, and many other factors. SPECT imaging is a clinically valuable tool for looking at brain function to help target treatment. In addition, SPECT scans help families see their loved one’s problems as medical not moral, which helps increase compassion and understanding while decreasing shame, blame, and conflict. Brain SPECT imaging can help get to the core of a wide variety of mental health conditions and cognitive issues, so you can find the best solutions to get your life back. Why Choose Amen Clinics for Brain SPECT Imaging? For over 30 years, Amen Clinics has performed over 200,000 scans on patients 9 months old to 105 years old from over 155 countries. In addition to diagnosing and treating patients with psychiatric symptoms such as attention challenges, mood issues, addiction, head trauma, and many other complex or resistant psychiatric problems, Amen Clinics also has scanned many health-conscious individuals interested in learning more about their brains and how to keep them optimized far into the future. The clinic performs outcome studies on all its patients. At the end of 6 months, 84% of complicated patients report improvement in their condition. Also, scores for quality of life increase in 85% of patients. qEEG A qEEG (quantitative electroencephalogram) is a diagnostic tool that measures electrical activity in the form of brain wave patterns. It’s sometimes referred to as “brain mapping.” Brain waves are the rhythmic electrical impulses generated when the millions of neurons inside your brain communicate with each other. Brain waves can convey important information about your overall brain function, including stress levels, thought patterns, and emotions. A qEEG can reveal brain wave patterns that are associated with impulsivity, cognitive inflexibility, and other issues. How a qEEG Can Help A qEEG is a valuable component of the comprehensive evaluation at Amen Clinics. It helps trained practitioners understand the cortical electrical activity in the brain. It can show if activity in the brain is too high or too low, and it can reveal how your brain cells are communicating with each other. A qEEG can help: Identify cognitive and psychiatric problems Show how your brain wave patterns can be improved Predict medication response, such as how you’re likely to respond to antidepressant medication Offer valuable information in creating a personalized treatment plan to help balance your brain Provide objective information that can be used to create a personalized neurofeedback program or guide other therapies to strengthen your brain In conjunction with brain SPECT imaging, a qEEG can give additional information about how your brain functions and can be used as a baseline to track progress with treatment. We can use the information from a qEEG as a guide to determine the most effective solutions to help you change your brain and improve your memory, boost focus and attention, minimize mood issues, and enhance overall mental performance. Why Choose Amen Clinics for qEEG? Over the years, Amen Clinics has performed over 10,000 qEEGs on patients of all ages from many countries. With the information from a qEEG, we’re better able to create a personalized treatment plan for your needs. Take a Look While Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has helped many people with their struggles, brain imaging technology has changed the way healthcare professionals evaluate and treat the brain. Amen Clinics uses brain imaging technology to identify your specific brain type, so they’re able to tailor a targeted treatment plan to address your symptoms and enhance your quality of life. Learn more9 Easy Ways To Boost Your Focus
The Focus Struggle Are you easily distracted when driving? Do you struggle to pay attention to boring tasks? Do you generally have problems focusing, or know someone who does? If so, you are not alone! Can you believe that research shows that humans have an attention span of only 8 seconds? This is less than a goldfish which loses focus after about 9 seconds It seems like evolution may be going in the wrong direction. In 2000, the human attention span average was estimated at 12 seconds, which is not great; but losing a third of our attention span in fifteen years is alarming! 9 Easy Ways to Boost Your Focus In today’s fast-paced, demanding, multi-tasking world, you need to be able to focus and pay attention in order to be successful. The good news is that there are countless strategies you can use to become more focused and have better attention – start with these 9. 1. Good, healthy food is brain medicine. For people who struggle with attention and focus, a healthy fat, high fiber, quality protein, low glycemic diet can have a powerfully positive effect on brain function. The sugar-filled, pesticide-laden, high glycemic Standard American Diet (SAD) leads to increased distractibility, decreased energy, and illness. It is especially important to eat protein with each meal and snack which helps to stabilize blood sugar levels and maintain focus. 2. Drink lots of water. Your brain is 80 percent water. Anything that dehydrates it, such as too much caffeine or alcohol, decreases your thinking and impairs your focus and judgment. Make sure you get plenty of water every day. To know you are drinking enough water for your brain, a good general rule is to consume half your weight in ounces per day unless there is significant obesity and then usually not more than 120 ounces a day. 3. Calm and focus your mind on mindful exercise. Yoga, tai chi, and other mindful exercises have been found to reduce anxiety and depression and increase focus. 4. Decades of research have shown that prayer, meditation, visualization, and self-hypnosis can calm stress; improve focus, mood, and memory; and enhance overall brain function. Taking 5 to 10 minutes twice a day to focus on your breathing, gratitude, a beautiful scene in nature, or scriptures is simple, yet can have a powerful effect on your life. 5. Used properly, music is medicine. Music can soothe, inspire, and help you focus. That is why Dr. Amen has teamed up with best-selling author and Grammy Award-winning composer, Barry Goldstein Music to compose pieces specifically designed to enhance mood, memory, energy, and focus. Other music to consider in order to improve focus is: “Just the Way You Are”: Bruno Mars Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, K. 448: Mozart “Silk Road”: Kitaro 6. Neurofeedback has been shown to help improve focus, impulse control, and memory along with other cognitive functions. It helps your brain function better by retraining certain brainwave patterns. You essentially get to play a video game using just your mind. While doing it, a computer continuously monitors your brain’s function and provides feedback. It is through repetition that the brain can retrain itself; therefore, a neurofeedback program will involve multiple sessions, but it’s worth it. 7. Boost your attention span with BrainMD’s Attention Support containing natural focus boosters. All its ingredients were picked for their clinically proven benefits to attention, concentration, calm, and overall self-control. Working through multiple action pathways in the brain, Attention Support’s nutrients and herbals help your distractible brain stay on track. 8. Give yourself regular breaks. Many people equate taking breaks with wasting time, but research demonstrates that taking breaks actually improves our focus and efficiency. Our cognitive control system can often begin to fail after a while of focusing on a task. By switching our attention to something else briefly – in other words, by taking a break – we can then return to our original task refreshed and focus on it once again. 9. Get rid of distractions when you prepare to focus – close your email, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Put your phone on airplane mode and turn off anything that blinks, dings, buzzes, or vibrates. Although multitasking may seem like the best way to get things done, research shows that even people practiced at multitasking don’t do it very well.
Learn more7 Ingredients for Brain Health: When More is More
Your Brain is Elegant and Complicated Your brain is one of the most complicated machines in the world. It works through many different mechanisms, and it's because of this diversity that our Brain & Memory Power Boost supplement has been so effective at improving cognitive function for so many people. Our Brain & Memory Power Boost utilizes seven intensively researched, key ingredients to improve these many different mechanisms in order to get the best brain-boosting results. Ingredients for Brain Support Two of these ingredients, Vinpocetine and Ginkgo Biloba Extract, work together to support healthy blood flow to the brain, which is vital considering your brain requires 20 percent of your body’s total oxygen and blood sugar resources. In addition, the issues associated with cognitive decline during aging often stem from a lack of proper blood flow. We always say, "Some of the prettiest brain scans we have seen at Amen Clinics come from people who take Ginkgo." Another ingredient, PhosphatidylSerine (or PS for short) works at the synapse, or the connections between brain cells. PS works with your brain cells to help them communicate quickly and efficiently for longer periods, as opposed to slowing down. To ensure your brain has enough energy to function throughout the day at high levels, we incorporated both Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) a key nutrient for creating energy in our nerve cells, and Alpha-Lipoic Acid, which influences the enzymes that help produce more energy in the body. And as if all this weren’t enough, we added N-AcetylCysteine (NAC), the brain’s most useful antioxidant that works to help your nerve cells stay balanced, keeping conditions optimal. In addition to NAC, we included Huperzine A, an extract from Huperzia serrata (club moss), a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, that supports your acetylcholine system, a key brain neurotransmitter. A Multiple-Mechanism Approach to Memory Loss The ingredients in Brain & Memory Power Boost work to support multiple mechanisms in your brain. This multiple-mechanism approach is how we think about formulating supplements. As with health in general, no single approach will help you reach your goals but rather a combination of techniques and habits to contribute to better health. That’s why we always recommend a healthy diet, exercise, plenty of sleep, and good relationship habits to accompany your supplement regimen.
Learn moreCan You Be Born With a Bad Memory?
Is Bad Memory Due to Genetics? Can it be Fixed? No one quite knows how memory works, and although researchers are getting closer to figuring it out, there is conclusive evidence that you can be born with a poor memory – but you can also fix it. Some evidence in adults shows that hormonal birth control, for one thing, can negatively affect memory retention. The good news is that the effects are not permanent and only affect temporarily while they are taking hormones. How Can You Be Born with a Poor Memory? A recent research study published in the journal of Neurology shows a strong correlation between birth weight and the number of weeks in gestation, and memory and attention problems as an adult. After studying adults who were born prematurely, studies indicate that those with the lower birth weight still score lower on their attention and visual memory tests when compared with those born full term. Although the study didn’t conclusively pinpoint what exactly happens in the womb during those crucial weeks, research indicates the longer a baby is in the womb, the better for his or her brain. Some studies show that this could be because of the development and maturity of the hippocampus, part of the brain that is essential for developing contextual memories. When the structure of the brain itself was studied, Amen Clinic’s SPECT brain imaging showed that the maturity of the hippocampus at birth and memory function as an adult were associated. Those born prematurely appear to have significantly smaller hippocampus’ than full-term babies, and this may explain why specialists find weaker memories in preemies later in life. How Can You Improve Your Memory Now? Poor memory can also be caused by a variety of things, not just hormones or being born prematurely. The most common sources of poor memory tend to be from very preventable conditions: Stress Lack of sleep Traumatic brain injuries By developing routines that can help to alleviate these issues, and using natural supplements to increase blood flow and circulation, your memory can improve over time. BrainMD Health’s Brain and Memory Power Boost was developed for exactly those reasons. With seven powerful brain boosters – including Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Ginkgo Biloba Extract, and Vinpocetine – Ginkgo Biloba and Vinpocetine work synergistically to increase blood flow to the brain, promoting increased circulation. Huperzine A, a medicinal herb, improves the function of acetylcholine, a brain neurotransmitter that plays a central role in memory. The Amen Clinics are committed to promoting, optimizing, and supporting brain health naturally. Your memory is what allows you to treasure and revisit the most special moments in your life. Make sure you fortify your brain with the nutrients and supplements that can strengthen and restore it.
Learn moreHow Hypnosis Can Help You Gain Mastery Over Your Mind
Your brain is the most complex organ in the universe. It weighs about three pounds, or roughly 2 percent of your body’s weight, and yet it uses 20-30 percent of the calories you consume, 20 percent of the oxygen you breathe, and 25 percent of the blood flow in your body. What’s more, your brain is 85 percent water! We estimate that the brain has 100 billion nerve cells and more connections than there are stars in the galaxy. Your beautiful brain is the organ of learning, loving, and behaving. When the brain within a family or an organization work properly, for example, the family or organization tends to be positive and effective. When the brain of one or more family members or an organization is troubled, the family or organization may experience increased stress and strain. Hypnosis may help change all that. How Can Hypnosis Combat Negative Thinking? It’s simple. Negative thinking disrupts healthy brain function. And chronic stress also kills cells in the memory centers of the brain. Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help you gain mastery over your own mind and body. Hypnosis can also be helpful for sleep problems , as well as for anxiety and pain. Before trying hypnosis, your health professional will first help you eliminate anything that might interfere with optimal brain function and positive thinking: These include lack of sleep, drug abuse or alcohol, too much caffeine before bed, being sedentary, and simple tips like unplugging electronics before bed to allow for more restful and brain rejuvenating sleep. One Fascinating Case Study in Hypnosis I have used hypnosis as a tool to help many patients. When I was an intern at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center years ago, many of my patients wanted sleeping pills. As you can imagine, it’s hard to sleep in a busy, noisy hospital. Before I gave them the pills, however, I asked if I could hypnotize them first. Almost everyone agreed, and it was very helpful. Several of my first professional papers came from using hypnosis for sleep issues. One of my patients, a decorated World War II hero, had Parkinson’s disease and when he was in hypnotic trance for sleep, his intensive tremors went away. When I told the attending neurologist about it the next morning, he thought I was crazy. So, I repeated the exercise in front of the doctor, and the astounding results became my first clinical paper. Just as negative thoughts can make a body sick, promoting positive and nurturing thoughts (via hypnosis) can help you heal the brain. What Does It Feel Like to be Hypnotized? First, let’s admit that real hypnosis is definitely not the woo-woo Las Vegas trickster magician scenario, where he’s up on stage making his audience cluck like chickens just for laughs. Not at all. Hypnosis is another tool to help you (and other professionals) understand your brain. It is often accompanied by talk therapy, lab tests, and doctor’s visits. When you are under, some people claim being hypnotized is more like a heightened state of relaxation that helps you get more in touch with your unconscious. The term “hypnosis” may mean different things to different people, but it generally entails becoming fully relaxed by entering a trance-like state, then listening to a hypnotist as he or she communicate in a rhythmic, calming voice. Dr. Amen says hypnosis is quite effective for becoming much more aware of what your body needs. For one example, a small study from the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology found that women who were hypnotized for weight loss shed an average of 17 pounds within 6 months, compared to a mere half a pound in the control group. If you’d like to investigate how hypnosis can enrich your brain function, better induce sleep, help you with food cravings, smoking cessation – or just help you understand certain difficult situations with deeper clarity – ask your health professional to steer you to an appropriate pro. If you’d like to read more about Dr. Daniel Amen’s real-people case studies, pick up his newest book, The Brain Warrior’s Way. Until then, you may find yourself getting very, very sleepy!

By definition, vitamins and essential minerals are substances that are essential for normal health and functioning. Without them we develop deficiency symptoms that can be serious. Since they cannot be made by the body in sufficient quantities, they must be taken in from the environment – typically through food. Thanks to the dramatic amount of growth and development they are experiencing, children are especially in need of generous allowances of vitamins and minerals, which are critical for healthy growth, activity, learning, and behavior. Without question, the best possible source of vitamins and minerals for kids is high-quality, organic, locally-grown, unprocessed food. However, for most time-crunched families, eating home-cooked, well-balanced meals made from these ingredients 100% of the time just isn’t possible. Additionally, it is possible for genetic variation to raise an individual's requirements for a vitamin or mineral to way higher than they can obtain even from a perfect diet. Many Children Eat Less Than a Minimum Daily Allowance of Nutrients Alarming studies show that a high percentage of children in North America and other developed countries eat less than the minimum daily allowance of many essential nutrients. Additional studies indicate that modern foods don't meet children's needs for these nutrients. Adding an expertly designed multivitamin/mineral supplement to their diet helps to fill any nutritional gaps. Many clinical research studies have established that supplementing children's diets with multiple vitamins and essential minerals supports their brain and body development. So now that you know the importance of giving your child a multiple vitamin-mineral supplement, you are still faced with trying to figure out which one to buy: There are a lot of multiples out there – if you’ve ever walked down the vitamin aisle of your local health food store, pharmacy, or grocery store, you know how many choices there are. That’s why Dr. Amen and his BrainMD team developed Kids’ NeuroVite – to take the guess work out of what multiple vitamin-mineral supplement to use for your kids. This science-based formulation provides generous amounts of well-utilized nutrients for: making energy (magnesium, the B vitamins) supporting the brain's maturation (methylfolate, methylB12, choline) improving immunity (vitamin C, zinc, selenium) supporting vision (lutein, zeaxanthin) "Get kids started with the support they need. Kids’ NeuroVite was developed for my own children and grandchildren. It can help yours, too." – Daniel G. Amen, MD The BrainMD team scoured the clinical research to document which nutrients are best proven for kids over the long term. We didn't take any shortcuts when selecting the ingredients for our Kids’ NeuroVite. A broad spectrum of nutrients for healthy minds and active bodies was chosen while paying close attention to purity, optimal absorption, and utilization. You know what you WON’T find in Kids’ NeuroVite?
