Every BrainMD supplement is manufactured in the USA in facilities that follow cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and is tested for identity, purity, and potency before it ships. We're also expanding independent third-party testing across our product line, with several products already verified by accredited outside laboratories. Here's how our testing works and what we test for.

How does BrainMD test its supplements?

BrainMD supplements are tested at multiple stages: raw ingredients, finished product, and, for a growing number of products, independent third-party verification. Our manufacturing partners test ingredients for identity and purity before they go into a formula, and test finished products for potency and contaminants before release. Each finished product is supported by a Certificate of Analysis. Selected products are then sent to independent, ISO 17025 accredited laboratories to confirm what's on the label is what's in the bottle.

1

Raw materials

Before manufacturing

Ingredients are verified for identity, purity, and potency against their specifications before manufacturing begins.

2

Finished product

Before release

Finished products are tested for potency, microbial contaminants, and heavy metals, and supported by a Certificate of Analysis.

3

Independent verification

Third-party laboratories

Selected products are tested by outside laboratories such as Intertek and NSF International that are not affiliated with BrainMD or our manufacturers.

Are BrainMD supplements tested for heavy metals?

Yes. BrainMD supplements are tested for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury using ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry), a highly sensitive method for detecting trace levels of metals. Raw materials and finished products are both tested, and results are periodically confirmed by independent laboratories.

Is BrainMD third-party tested?

Yes. A growing number of BrainMD products are independently tested by third-party laboratories, and every product is supported by a Certificate of Analysis. Independent testing is performed by Intertek, an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, and Smart Creatine+ is NSF Certified for Sport. We're expanding this program across the full product line and will not describe a product as third-party tested until an independent lab has verified it.

What does "third-party tested" mean for supplements?

Third-party tested means an independent laboratory with no financial stake in the product has verified it. In-house or manufacturer testing is performed by the company making the product; third-party testing adds an outside check. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before sale, so independent testing is one of the few ways a consumer can confirm a supplement contains what its label claims.

BrainMD Smart Creatine+, NSF Certified for Sport

What does NSF Certified for Sport mean?

NSF Certified for Sport is the certification trusted by the NFL, MLB, NHL, PGA, LPGA, and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport. To earn it, every lot of a product is independently tested by NSF International to confirm the label is accurate and to screen for more than 280 substances banned by major athletic organizations. Very few creatine products carry it. Smart Creatine+ does, and you can verify any lot number in NSF's public database.

Frequently asked questions

Does BrainMD third-party test its supplements?

Yes. Several BrainMD products are independently tested by Intertek, an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, and Smart Creatine+ is NSF Certified for Sport. Every BrainMD product is supported by a Certificate of Analysis, and independent testing is expanding across the line.

What does BrainMD test its supplements for?

Identity, purity, potency, microbial contaminants, and heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury). Ingredients are tested before manufacturing and finished products are tested before release.

Are BrainMD supplements manufactured according to cGMP requirements?

Yes. All BrainMD products are manufactured in the USA in FDA-regulated facilities that follow cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.

What is the difference between third-party testing and in-house testing?

In-house testing is done by the manufacturer; third-party testing is done by an independent lab with no stake in the result. BrainMD products get manufacturer testing on every batch, and a growing number also get independent testing.

Does third-party tested mean FDA approved?

No. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before they're sold. Third-party testing is an independent verification that a product meets its label claims; it's not a government approval.

How can I tell if a supplement is third-party tested?

Look for the name of the testing laboratory or certifying body (Intertek, NSF, USP), a certification mark on the label, or a quality page on the brand's website that explains its testing. A brand that names its lab is more credible than one that says "lab tested" without specifics.

How do I know if a supplement contains what the label says?

Potency testing. A finished-product test measures the actual amount of each active ingredient and compares it with the label. BrainMD products are potency tested by our manufacturers and, for third-party tested products, an independent lab repeats that check.

Why is third-party testing important for supplements?

Because supplements aren't pre-approved by the FDA, independent testing is the main way to confirm purity, potency, and the absence of contaminants. It also holds manufacturers accountable to their own specifications.

Why does this matter?

We appreciate people asking these questions. The supplement industry runs on trust, and trust should be verifiable. Our commitment is simple: test everything, verify independently where we can, and tell you plainly what we've done and what we're still working on.
