BrainMD has introduced independent third-party testing to verify product potency and label claims. We’re also in the process of eliminating “natural flavors” from our formulations, building on our longstanding commitment to never use artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives.
These changes reflect a fundamental pillar upon which BrainMD is built: Continuous improvement. Change is always possible, small choices matter, and there's always an opportunity to get better.
1. Independent Third-Party Testing
When you buy a supplement, you should feel confident that what's listed on the label is actually what's inside the bottle. Unfortunately, in today’s flooded supplement market, this isn’t always the case.
So, what can you do to make sure you’re actually taking what you think you’re taking? Look for a supplement that says “third-party tested”.
A supplement brand that employs a neutral, reputable third-party laboratory to verify label claims is showing that they stand behind their product and doing their part to earn your loyalty.
That's why BrainMD has partnered with Intertek, a globally-recognized independent-testing company, to conduct third-party testing.
Intertek uses validated scientific methods to measure key active ingredients and verify that their amounts match what's stated on our labels. So, if a BrainMD supplement lists 5000 IU of vitamin D3 or 30 mg of saffron extract, you can rest assured that the product will deliver that stated amount.
Intertek is also one of Amazon's approved laboratories for supplement quality verification, adding another layer of credibility to the testing process.
It is important to point out that Intertek operates independently of BrainMD and our manufacturing partners. That means an outside laboratory is evaluating our label claims, and has no stake or interest in the data they collect.
Hard science with integrity is a smart place to put your trust.
Quality AND Quantity
Yes, numbers matter, and independent potency testing is an important part of our commitment to product quality. But there are other quality aspects you should care about, beyond potency.
Our manufacturing partners also conduct purity testing on every production lot to help ensure that our products meet rigorous quality standards.
This includes testing for:
- Ingredient identity: Verifying that ingredients are in the form they're supposed to be.
- Heavy metals: Testing for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury against California Proposition 65 limits.
- Microbial contaminants: Screening for bacteria, yeast, mold, E. coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus.
Together, these quality measures help us evaluate both what belongs in our supplements and what doesn't.
It's important to distinguish the two: Intertek independently verifies potency and label claims, while our manufacturing partners perform purity and contaminant testing.

2. Cleaner Formulas: Saying Goodbye to Natural Flavors
BrainMD has always been committed to avoiding artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, and artificial preservatives. Now, we're removing all natural flavors from our formulations.
You may be thinking, “Aren't ‘natural flavors’ supposed to be a good thing?”
Better than artificial flavors, maybe, but the truth is that "natural flavors" is a broad labeling term. While these flavoring ingredients originate from natural sources, the term doesn't necessarily tell you much about the specific substances used or how they were processed.
Although natural flavors aren't inherently harmful, our philosophy is straightforward: Every ingredient should have a clear purpose.
By removing natural flavors, we're simplifying our formulations and giving customers one less thing to wonder about when reading a BrainMD label. This is yet another reflection of our commitment to making thoughtful decisions that reflect our commitment to quality, transparency, and brain-healthy living.
Sometimes making a product better isn't about what you add; it's about what you choose to leave out.
